Chemical Engineer
1976 to 1980
I was recruited in England to work for Union Carbide's Linde Division in upstate New York. According to the International Directory of Company Histories (as cited in "Praxair"), Linde was spun off and became Praxair in 1992.
Linde & Praxair's origins "may be traced back to 19th-century Germany, where a professor of mechanical engineering at the College of Technology in Munich started experiments in refrigeration. Karl von Linde's research came to fruition with the 1895 development of a cryogenic air liquefier. Von Linde built his first oxygen production plant in 1902" ("Praxair").
